1968: Tucumcari Mayor Kenneth Schlientz announced this morning the city is reviewing light and water deposits on hand, and those customers who have established a good paying record this year will receive their deposits back in the month of December. Last year, the city refunded about $35,000 in light and water deposits to boost the city's economy during the Christmas buying season and as a goodwill gesture.
• The Odeon Theatre in Tucumcari was showing a double feature of James Bond movies starring Sean Connery - "Thunderball" and "From Russia with Love."
• Cooper's Market and Safeway in Tucumcari each were advertising choice, blade-cut chuck roast for 53 cents a pound.
