• All Tucumcari residents and businessmen are urged to attend the dedication of the First Street widening project scheduled for 5:15 p.m. today at the corner of First and Gaynell streets.

• Tony Collins, 10, of Tucumcari loves animals. His latest addition is Hoppy, an 11-week-old jackrabbit a neighbor brought to him from Logan. Hoppy takes milk from a baby doll's bottle, will nibble on a slice of cantaloupe, will swipe a prune every chance it gets but, strangely enough, isn't that crazy about carrots. Cheetah, the family's 9-year-old Chihuahua, takes Hoppy in stride, but the cat hasn't developed a liking for it.

• Nara Visa's hopes of keeping its school buildings for community purposes looks much better after the five directors of the newly organized Nara Visa Community Center organization talked to the Union County School Board at its meeting in Clayton. According to the group, the board was congenial and agreed to the revised tentative lease offered by Nara Visa, although no lease was signed. The Nara Visa school was closed this fall by the school board.
