Logan defeated Grady/San Jon 25-17, 25-11, 25-13 in an opening district matchup Friday between two area volleyball powers.
Logan improved to 9-3, while Grady/San Jon dropped to 7-4.
Lady Longhorns coach Robert Young was pleased, and not just because his team won.
“As a team, we played really well,” he said. “We served and hit the ball well, and our blocks are getting better.
“And we didn’t have many unforced errors, which helped a lot.”
Lady Bronchos coach Rebecca Burns, whose team lost to Logan on Sept. 8 at the Tucumcari Invitational tournament, said she felt better about Friday’s matchup despite the loss.
“I felt we competed,” she said. “We played way better than in the previous match. Based on how they played in that game, Logan is the best team we’ve played so far.”
Logan’s next big game is when it hosts Melrose on Friday afternoon, after junior-high and junior-varsity games that begin at 2 p.m. Melrose is ranked No. 1 in Class A, and Logan is ranked fourth.
