Members of the Tucumcari boys and girls cross-country teams each took the top individual spots at the Mora Invitational on Sept. 1.
For the boys, Josh Chavez led all runners with a time of 18 minutes, 43 seconds over the 3-mile course. Teammate Manny Hernandez was second in 19:42.
Rounding out the rest of the Rattlers squad was Charles Prieto (fourth, 21:01), Alex Lujan (12th, 23:14), Britt Lusk (17th, 28:12) and Dwight Brown (19th, 28:34).
For the Tucumcari girls, Aleaya Lucero won the field with a time of 23:03. Teammate Erin Encinias was runner-up in 23:14.
Filling out the rest of the Lady Rattlers field were Leslie Navarette (seventh, 34:26) and Melanie Jones (ninth, 39:25).

The Rattler cross-country teams’ next meet is at the NMMI Invitational in Roswell at 10 a.m. Saturday.
