• Royce C McCauley of Tucumcari was appointed by the Farmers Home Administration State Director Drew Cloud as a member of the three-man Quay County FHA Committee.
• Mrs. Phillip Bidegain of Montoya broke a bottle of New Mexico water over the hull of the U.S. Navy's new hydrofoil gunboat, the USS Tucumcari, when it was christened in Seattle, Washington.
• The 1967 officers of the annual Bell Ranch reunion saw another year in office as all were re-elected. Elected to serve during 1968 were President, Ralph Bonds, Bell Ranch, Vice-president, Tom Horton, Quay, Secretary-Treasurer, Barbara Plummer, Tucumcari and Historian, Mattie Ellis, Bell Ranch.
