Foote signs with Howard

The courses to build a future were what prompted an area high school senior's decision to accept a full scholarship to play basketball for Howard Junior College in Big Spring, Texas.

"What it came down to, was Howard College has the equine science courses I need to pursue a career in equine chiropractic therapy," said Kaylee Foote, Logan High School senior.

Foote signed with the Lady Hawks program in April surrounded by her family, friends, teachers and coaches at Logan High School.

"We are tickled to death to have Kaylee join our program," said Howard coach Earl Diddle.

Diddle said Foote is a dedicated athlete coming from a winning program. He said Foote's athletic ability is complemented well by her positive personality.

"Kaylee is a positive influence, when she came to visit the campus her positively was felt by all of us," Diddle said.

Foote said she will be playing as a shooting guard, the same position the 6-foot senior played as a Lady Longhorn.

"Kaylee has always had a natural athletic ability; it is her dedication to improving that sets her apart," said Robert Young, Logan volleyball and track coach.

Young said Foote was always putting in the work to get better, attended every practice and never settled for average.

"I can tell that Kaylee has an incredible work ethic," Diddle said. "She is going to have a positive impact for our program."

Foote said she visited the campus during spring break and instantly formed a connection with the coaches and players. She said everything began to fall into place, good people, wonderful environment and the courses to build a successful future.

"I'm excited to play basketball at the next level," Foote said. "I'm going to miss everyone here, but I'm ready to leave Logan and start the next chapter in my life."
