Voter registration deadline looms

Voter registration at the Quay County Clerk’s Office will continue through Tuesday the day registration books close for the Primary Election.

Anyone who will be 17 years of age before the Nov 6, General Election is eligible to register and vote in the June 5, Primary Election, said Ellen White, Quay County Clerk.

White said New Mexico requires you to be registered with a major political party to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election. She said if a voter chooses no party or a minor party when they registered to vote, they will not be able to participate in the Primary Election. If a residents needs to register or make a party change official they need to do so before the 5 p.m., Tuesday deadline at the County Clerk’s Office.

Early/Absentee Voting for the Primary Election will begin on Tuesday at the Quay County Clerk’s Office located at 301 South Third Street, Tucumcari.. Hours of operation are 8-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

No reason for requesting an Absentee Ballot or voting Early is required. For more information contact the Quay County Clerk’s Office at 575-461-0510.
