Quay County Commission
At their April 9 meeting, Quay County commissioners took the following actions:
• Quay County Sheriff Russell Shafer requested permission to apply for a $1,542 Combat DWI grant. The commission approved the request.
• Quay County Community Development Block Grant Coordinator Darla Munsell requested the approval of a CDBG application for $750,000 to be used towards the improvements on a two mile section of Quay Road AR north from Quay Road 63. Munsell said two public meetings were held on March 19 and March 26 seeking input on what roads needed work. The commission approved the application.
• Quay County Clerk Ellen White updated the commission on items including 2018 Occupational License updates, the planned local election act (House Bill 98) workshop and CyberSecurity awareness. White said there would be a planned attack on the county’s cyber security by a contracted company. She said the test will help the county improve the voter registration system’s security.
• Quay County Manager Richard Primrose requested the approval of an application for a $149,995 loan from the New Mexico Finance Authority for the Forrest Fire Department for the purchase of fire equipment. The application was approved.
• The commission held an executive session to discuss threatened or pending litigation. No action was taken.
