• John J. Kelt's home at 1624 S. Fifth was badly damaged in a fire that started in an electrical outlet under a bed. Firefighters needed 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze. One bedroom was destroyed and heavy smoke damage was reported throughout the house.
• Construction on the new Saint Michael's Episcopal Church was expected to begin in two weeks. The church was to be located on the east side of South Second Street, between Estrella and Mesa Vista.
