• A fire on the Louis Szabo property, east of town and south of US 66, destroyed an estimated $1300 worth of feed and five acres of grass. Also damaged was a fence at the Hillcrest Club to where the fire spread.
• Tucumcari’s civic organization, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, held an election for the first roster of officers.
• The Tucumcari Rotary Club elected a new president, A.E. “Red” Wilkerson and vice president, Kenneth Vinyl, at a special meeting.
• About 27 first- and second-place winners from Tucumcari’s seventh annual science fair were selected to compete in the regional science fair.
