• Leo Rorabaugh, owner of LeDeane Studio, was one of the featured speakers at the 12th annual covention of Professional Photographers Association of New Mexico held at the Cole Hotel in Albuquerque.

• The Tucumcari chapter of Future Farmers of America took first place honors in parliamentary procedure district contest. Members were Stanley Wallis, advisor, Don Shiplett, vice president, Dale Wells, sentinel, Donnie McKinney, secretary, Larry Breen, treasurer, Gerald Floeck, reporter, Conny Parker president.

• Members of the San Jon and Forrest 4-H clubs were among the 10 county youth organizations engaged in a window decorating contest in observance of National 4-H week. Members were Ricky Ayres, Mrs. Bill Purcell, Jeff Purcell, Leland Tillman, Linda Purcell, Linda Dean, Marcia Dean, Mrs. Orville Helker, Carolyn Moon, Diana Yates, Judy Yates, Vicky Helker.
