Council cited personnel matters as dismissal cause.
The recently ousted Village Manager of Logan was shocked to learn he was relieved of duties following a special executive session held on Jan. 30 by the Village Council.
"Trevor Thompson is no longer the manager of the Village of Logan," said Mayor Russell Feerer.
Feerer would not elaborate on Thompson, citing personnel matters.
“This came out of left field, it completely caught me by surprise,” Thompson said on Monday.
Thompson said he does not want to go into much detail about the matter without first consulting his attorney.
“I’m still very much interested in continuing my duties as the manager for the Village of Logan,” Thompson said. “I have been and continue to be driven to do the best I can to help the residents of Logan.”
The special meeting, advertised locally since Jan. 26, was held at the Village Office. Feerer said council members Benny Newton and Leslie Osborn exited the executive session and following a regular session vote Thompson was no longer the village manager.
Thompson said he had been sick with the flu and was not able to attend the meeting.
Thompson was hired in last August to replace then-interim manager Larry Wallin.
Wallin had retired as manager in 2016 but was re-hired in 2017 after his successor resigned.
Feerer said he will share the duties of manager with Village Clerk/Treasurer Rosalie Rachor until a new manager is hired.
Feerer is serving as mayor until the upcoming March 6 municipal election.
In that election Feerer is running against Dave E. Shivers for a two year term as council member position 2.
Tommy J. Smith and David L. Babb are seeking election as mayor.
"We (Feerer and Rachor) will do that we can to ensure the day to day operations and issues are handled until a new manager can be hired," Feerer said.
