Quay County Commission
At their Oct. 23 meeting, Quay County commissioners took the following actions:
• Quay County Manager, Richard Primrose, introduced the new DWI Compliance Director Andrea Shafer. Shafer is replacing Bryan Rinestine following his retirement announced in September.
• Shafer presented the DWI quarterly report to the commission: • July - Sept. there were 17 arrests for DWI, and seven for aggravated DWI. The average age of offender was 33, with the age range 21 to 51. Of the arrests, 13 were male and four female.
• Quay County Road Superintendent Larry Moore requested the approval for extensions of the CAP Project Agreement and School Bus Projects. Moore said rain delayed these projects, the match for these project saves the county $29,000 (school bus) and $59,000 (CAP). The extensions were approved.
• Quay County Extension Service Program Director Brenda Bishop gave a quarterly report of extension services and 4-H programs. Bishop said there has been a lot of successful programs and events held including the Quay County Fair, 4-H teams winning state competition and informational workshops.
• Primrose requested the amendment of an ordinance to amend the name of the lessee to reflect the correct entity for the Industrial Revenue Bonds for the NextEra Energy Resources’ proposed Casa Mesa Pilot and upgrade of the current New Mexico Wind Energy Center near House. The amendment was approved.
• An executive session was held for threatened or pending litigation. No action was taken.
