Aug. 1, 1975: Ten of the 17 Logan High School graduates from 1925 attended a 50th anniversary gathering at the Logan school gym.
The Tucumcari News reported five class members had died and only two of those living failed to attend the reunion.
After leaving the gym, class members went to Johnie Dugger’s home and “cut a cake,” the newspaper reporter.
Aug. 1, 1967: A Tucumcari man was listed in critical condition after being struck by lightning while hoeing on a Grady farm.
Camilio Sandoval, 60, died from his injuries about two weeks later.
Aug. 3, 1965: Water was 6 inches deep at the U.S. 54 underpass just east of Tucumcari.
Much of the region received a half-inch of rain or more.
The year’s moisture was reported at 9.59 inches, more than 2 inches below normal.

It featured “fine foods” and “friendly 24-hour service,” according to a newspaper advertisement.
