PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University is searching for a new cross country and track and field coach.
Danielle Kcholi, who has served in the position for the last three years, turned in her resignation, effective June 30. Kcholi told the Eastern New Mexico News she and her husband, Guy, plan to relocate to the Dallas area for other opportunities.
The school will do a national search for her replacement, according to a release from the school.
“We want to thank Coach Kcholi for her dedication to the ENMU cross country and track and field programs,” ENMU Athletic Director Greg Waggoner said. “Her work has helped set a new bar for these programs and we wish her well in her new endeavors.”
During her three seasons, the Greyhounds notched 41 All Lone Star Conference runners, 14 All-Academic athletes, nine All-Region runners and five All-Americans.
Mercy Rotich was the South Central Regional Runner of the year, and Melina Gryschka and Marcus Parker were named the LSC female and male outstanding athletes of the year in outdoor and indoor track.
“As an alumnus, I have been extremely honored to have the opportunity to coach at ENMU; I will always have a deep adoration for this program, the university and the community,” Kcholi said. “I am beyond proud of the success that the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams have reached in recent years and know that with this amazing group of athletes things will only continue to get better for the Greyhounds.”
