Softball team hopes to keep its momentum

The Tucumcari Lady Rattlers softball team needs to be on their toes while on base if they want to continue their offensive production against Dora, said Coach Donnie Garcia.

The Lady Rattlers, 4-1, will play at 4 p.m. Monday at Dora.

"We've got to be ready to move and take advantage of opportunities, said Britanni Pulcini, pitcher.

The Lady Rattlers won their last two games by the 10 run rule in the fifth inning. On March 23, they beat 1-1 Logan 30-61 and on March 25, they beat Clayton 14-2.

"The girls have shown a lot of dedication," Garcia said. "They continue to put in the work that is needed to improve every week."

The Tucumcari Rattlers will look to keep the momentum of Monday's 23-3 routing of the 0-6 Logan Longhorns into this weekend's tournament at Santa Rosa.

"This team has a lot of talent and potential," said Dwayne Roberts, head coach.

Roberts said the team will have to play with the same intensity Thursday-Saturday at the Santa Rosa Invite. He said the team had two games get away from them last weekend at the Pecos Tournament.

"We made some errors and allowed the teams to come back late in the games," Roberts said.

On March 24, Tucumcari, 4-2, lost 10-9 vs Pecos and on March 25, they lost 14-3 against East Mountain.

"The guys need to focus and limit the errors that lead to points for the other team," Roberts said.
