• R.L. Nelson of Nara Visa filed his candidacy for state representative Place 1 and I.L. McAlister of Nara Visa filed his candidacy for state senator. Thelma Trentham with the Quay County Clerk’s Office handled their paper work.

• Tucumcari High School senior Jackie Robertson was presented with a $150-a-year scholarship from the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Philip Wiegel.

• The world famous Paganini Quartet performed at the Tucumcari High School Auditorium.

• Robby Dickinson, Johnny Lewalling, John Dunn and Mike and Phil Cory were members of the Cub Scouts Pack 82 of Tucumcari ,who built two wheelchairs and donated them to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
