Attempted murder suspect arrested in Quay

A Texas man charged with attempted capital murder by remuneration (murder for hire) was arrested on March 9 in Tucumcari by Quay County Sheriff's deputies.

Billy Glenn Ivy Jr., 49, was taken into custody by Under Sheriff Dennis Garcia without incident, said Russell Shafer, Quay County Sheriff.

Shafer said on Thursday Under Sheriff Garcia was contacted by deputies out of Oldam and Deaf Smith county in Texas about Ivy possibly being in Quay County. He said Texas agencies were tracking Ivy by his cell phone and coordinated with Under Sheriff Garcia to zero in on Ivy's location.

Shafer said a traffic stop was conducted on the corner of South First Street and East Hancock Avenue where Ivy was identified as the driver.

Ivy was arrested and booked into the Quay County Detention Center on Thursday.

Ivy has since been released and extradited back to Texas.
