Lady Rattlers play Santa Rosa today at home.
San Jon, Logan and Tucumcari prepare for district tournament home and away games.
The Tucumcari Lady Rattlers will be in District 5-3A tournament action today against the Santa Rosa Lady Lions.
The Lady Rattlers (18-6, 4-2) beat the Lady Lions (10-14, 1-5) 74-44 Saturday at the Snake Pit. The Lady Lions beat the Lady Yellowjackets (8-14, 1-5) 48-46 Monday night to earn the match-up in Tucumcari.
Leading the Rattlers against the Lady Lions was post Kalani French with 20 points, guard Alyssa Martinez, 19 points, and point guard Ashley Shipley, 13 points.
"We cannot underestimate anyone," French said. "We need to be ready to play with intensity no matter who we face.
The Lady Rattlers had issues securing the defensive rebound against the Santa Rosa.
French said the team needs to box out and be more aggressive on defense.
"The games only get harder from this point on," said Gary Hittson, Lady Rattlers head coach.
Hittson said the girls will have to play with heart and be ready for physical play on both sides of the ball.
"We need to play our game," Martinez said. "Keep the pace fast but not lose focus."
Martinez said the Lady Rattlers will work on limiting turnovers. She said ball control will be crucial against the tough teams ahead.
The winner of today's game will play Saturday at Texico for the district championship.

The San Jon Coyotes (11-7 7-3) will play against the Grady Bronchos (10-15, 4-6) Thursday in the District 4-1A tournament.

The Logan Lady Longhorns will host the District 6-2A championship Friday night at Logan.
The Lady Longhorns won the district playoff game 43-38 Saturday against the Fort Sumner/House Vixens (16-9, 4-3) at Melrose.
With the win, the Lady Longhorns earned first place and will play the win between the Vixens and the Dora Lady Coyotes.
Game time: 6 p.m. Friday at Logan
Other district tournament action
The San Jon Lady Coyotes (0-11, 0-10) lost 53-19 Monday to the Grady Lady Bronchos (13-3, 6-4).
The Tucumcari Rattlers (8-15, 1-5) lost 59-50 to the Santa Rosa Lions (17-7, 5-1) at the Snake Pit.
On Monday, the Lions secured first place in the District 5-3A tournament with a 54-52 win over the Texico Wolverines (19-7, 5-1) at the Snake Pit.
