A pipe bond - the third found in Clovis since March 5 - was discovered by city workers about 8 a.m. today near the entrance to the landfill. It is the second pipe bomb found near the landfill.State police Capt. Jimmy Glascock said investigators believe the latest pipe bomb was only recently either thrown or placed.Glascock said the new bomb is also similar to one discovered March 5 near the landfill - a 5-inch pipe capped and packed with what investigators believe was an explosive and improvised shrapnel."We don't believe it has been laying there for months," Glascock said. He added that state police bomb squad members were rendering the bomb safe and federal ATF specialists have been called in to assist with the investigation.Glascock said investigators haven't made an arrest or zeroed in on a suspect. He also said the location of the bomb appeared to be random, meaning investigators don't believe it was deliberately placed by the water main valve.
