All area schools will be competing in state competition in baseball and track and field this week.
The 1A-2A state baseball tournament
The 7 seed (10-8) (9-3) Logan Longhorns play at 4 p.m. against the 2 seed (13-6) (4-0) McCurdy Bobcats at McCurdy.
The winner will play May 15 against the winner of the 3 seed (11-5) (9-3) Melrose Buffalos and the 6 seed (11-9-1) (1-2) Jemez Valley Warriors at Rio Rancho.
The 9 seed (12-11) (6-3) Tucumcari Rattlers play at 3 p.m., against the 8 seed (6-9) (4-5) Loving Falcons at Loving. The winner will play at 7 p.m., May 15 against the winner of 1 seed (20-6) (4-0) East Mountain Timberwolves and the 16 seed (5-15) (1-1) Mesa Vista Trojans.
The Logan Longhorns, Tucumcari Rattlers and San Jon Coyotes boys and girls track teams will be competing Friday and Saturday in the A-AA State Track and Field at Albuquerque.
The (5-11) (1-5) Lady Rattlers softball team are awaiting the seeding process on Sunday state tournament will begin on May 15 in Rio Rancho.
