Ashlee Bradley, 15, and Jorge Herrera, 18, are the students of the month at Tucumcari High School.
Bradley is the daughter of Lane and Ginger Bradley and is a freshman. She has been active in FFA, 4-H, Spanish Club and the high school rodeo. She has a grade average of A/A+.
Bradley's achievements are honor roll student for all of middle school and high school and Top of Class. Bradley hopes to be valedictorian of her graduating class, attend Texas Tech University and become their Masked Rider mascot, majoring in either sports medicine or agriculture business.
Herrera is the son of Socorro Ferrel and is a senior. He has been active in National Honor Society. He has a grade average of 3.7. Herrera's achievements are taking a number of college classes, 107 math and silversmithing. Upon graduation he hopes to go to college and study wind energy.
The Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Tucumcari Elks Lodge No. 1172 to bring recognition to outstanding youth in the Quay County area. Multiple achievements, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection.
Students are nominated monthly by classmates and teachers in their schools and then screened by a school committee for selection as the student of the month.
