Five face charges in local burglary

Five Tucumcari residents face felony burglary charges for the recent burglary of a local business.

Four adults and a juvenile were arrested Friday for the March 31 burglary at The Smokin' Body Jewelry, said Deputy Police Chief Pete Rivera.

Rivera said the store was burglarized during the evening and items estimated to be worth $800 were stolen.

Lee Smith, owner of Smokin' Body Jewelry said security footage of a suspect shows the thief rummaging through the store for about three minutes putting items in his pockets and in a bag he was carrying.

Rivera said with evidence compiled through the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Miguel Soria 30, Margarita Romero 25, Travis Fowlkes 21, Tiffany Callison 24 and a 17 year-old juvenile.

All were charged with commercial burglary, a third degree felony, with the possibility of additional charges pending, said police Chief Jason Braziel.

The five were taken to the Quay County Detention Center and later released on bond.
