The snow Tucumcari and Quay County has ended -- for now.
Another storm system will move into the area late Tuesday afternoon, with a chance of slight dusting of snowfall for Tucumcari and less than an inch for Logan, said Tim Shy, senior forecaster National Weather Service Albuquerque.
Shy said the higher concentrations of snowfall will be in the northeastern portions of New Mexico.
The primary concern for Tucumcari and Quay County this afternoon is blowing snow, Sly said.
He said the northern winds will slow the clearing of roads, primarily east and westbound I-40 out of Tucumcari.
Currently westbound lanes to Santa Rosa have been open while eastbound lanes to Amarillo Texas, remain closed.
Snowfall ranged from four to 4 to 8 inch inches, which resulted in the cancellation of classes at Tucumcari and San Jon schools and Mesalands Community College.
The City of Tucumcari, Quay County and Tenth Judicial District Court and District Attorney's offices are closed due to the weather.
Monday's Quay County Commission meeting has been scheduled for 9 a.m.,Tuesday, said Ellen White, chief deputy clerk.
Shy said overnight the temperatures will be in the low teens with a wind-chill factor above 4 degrees.
Their is another chance of snow from one to two inches on Thursday for Tucumcari and Logan, from a storm system out of the Pacific northwest, Shy said. He said the storm will move in the area late Thursday afternoon after gaining strength in Utah and Colorado.
