Serving the High Plains
Mesalands Community College will be hosting its annual "FAFSA Free-For-All" event on Feb. 22, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
FAFSA Free-For-All provides college students free professional assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA is the form that colleges, universities, and vocational schools use to determine a student's complete financial aid package, which can include grants, scholarships, work-study awards, and federal loan assistance.
The financial aid application can be a daunting step in the college admission process and the FAFSA Free-For-All provides students and their families with the maximum opportunity to afford the costs of higher education.
More than $154 billion dollars in federal aid is available every year and 41 percent of students still do not complete a FAFSA.
Attendees to the FAFSA Free-For-All event are asked to bring their 2012 IRS 1040 Tax Returns, W-2 Forms, and any other 2012 income benefits information. Attendees are also eligible to win a laptop computer by submitting a survey at the event.
