Former senator Mesalands government relations specialist

Former State Sen. Clinton D. Harden was introduced Tuesday as Mesalands Community College's new government relations specialist.

Aaron Kennedy, vice president of student affairs, introduced Harden to the Board of Trustees Tuesday during their regular board meeting.

Harden served 10 years as the District 7 sate senator, representing parts of Curry, San Miguel, Taos and all of Quay, Harding, Union and Colfax counties. He is now registered as a lobbyist for business and government at the state Legislature.

"We appreciate having you on board to represent the college's best interest in Santa Fe," said J Bronson Moore, trustee chair.

Moore said the college will benefit greatly from Harden's vast knowledge and experience from his time in the capital.

"We know you'll do your best to get a lot done for the college," Moore said.

Harden said he is pleased to be able to continue his relationship with Mesalands. He said he looks forward to working on the college's behalf to ensure continued growth and success at Mesalands.

"I just can't let go of this part of the state," Harden said. "I've developed a special relationship with Mesalands and the residents of Quay County after serving as senator for 10 years."

Harden said he is optimistic and looks forward to working with state Sen. Pat Woods, Rep. Dennis Roch and many others during the upcoming legislative session.
