Column: Rough time coming off holidays

Am I the only one who feels a bit rough starting out the week after operating on holiday time the past few weeks?

Christmas and New Year's are two very important and celebrated holidays with little time between to recover.

Each has their own rituals which most likely include; family, friends, food, and parties. I mean come on who doesn't like a good party?

For me the time between the two holidays passed quickly and while I had plenty of time to rest and relax, I chose to keep going and enjoy myself.

Now as if it were not enough with the holidays, the NFL playoffs got into full swing and Saturday I was cheering the Green Bay Packers against the Minnesota Vikings.

Yes, I know Christian Ponder was out and Joe Webb hadn't started in sometime. That was a big factor and I admit that, however, our defense managed to hold Adrian Peterson to 99 yards. This in itself was a victory seeing as Peterson had rushed for 199 only one week earlier and totaled 409 yards against the Packers this season.

What does this mean for the Packer faithful? As you well know, we travel to San Francisco to play the 49ers, who have Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter in the backfield. This is going to be a great game to say the least.

I also rooted for the Colts and Redskins though they didn't make it. I feel and I hope I'm not alone those two teams deserve a lot of credit for getting as far as they did with rookie quarterbacks.

With all the excitement filling the weekend you can imagine how I felt waking up Monday morning.

I slowly opened my eyes and clinched my pillow wishing that the night had not given way to the dawn. Admittedly I feel this way every Monday morning. Don't we all?

Like always, I got up, got going and all was well, so to speak. This made me think about how time management is such a crucial skill which I still need to refine.

This would improve my work and personal life as I feel I have been slacking. My focus has not been the same.

I'm going to make my New Year's resolution to manage my time better, to make the effort to use every minute in the most productive way possible.

Though, I may be off to a slow start as I am writing this column at 8 p.m., Monday night.
