Here is a listing of holiday events scheduled in the Tucumcari area, as compiled by the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce:
Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration: An offertory procession will begin at 4:30 p.m. today (Dec. 12) in front of Hammond Hall, 415 S. Fifth St., Tucumcari, and end at the St. Anne's Catholic Church, 301 W. High St., followed by a mass at the church. Music for the mass will be provided by Mariachi Paisano from Las Vegas. After the mass, all guests will return to Hammond Hall for a potluck dinner. All guest are invited to bring a dish. More information is available by calling Gema at (575) 815-8141.
San Juan Macias Center Third Annual Christmas Dinner: The San Juan Macias Center is hosting its Third Annual Free Christmas Dinner at Hammond Hall, 415 S. Fifth St., Tucumcari. Information on the event or arrangements to deliver food for persons unable to travel is available by calling Mark at (575) 708-0033. Mark also has information about open houses, retreats and other events, as well as information on St. Anne's Parish.
"A Christmas Story" and "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"): Radio stations KTNM/KQAY present "A Christmas Story" at the Tucumcari Convention Center, 1500 W. Rte. 66 Blvd, at 2 p.m. Dec. 21. The event will include a live broadcast of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" read by Kevin Mueller. All kids age 10 and under are invited to enjoy the story and refreshments, plus a big surprise!
Model Trains, Lighted Buildings and Christmas Trees: Lionel trains and lighted buildings assembled by local collectors are on display from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturdays until Christmas at the Tucumcari Building across Rte. 66 Boulevard from the Blue Swallow Motel, 815 E. Rte 66 Blvd. Also on display are decorated Christmas trees, courtesy Flora May's Broken Glass and Spur Shop, Tucumcari.
Teambuilders Angel Tree Wish List: Teambuilders Counseling Services has an "Angel Tree Wish List" available at it Tucumcari offices at 1110 E. High St. through Friday, Dec. 14. Donors are asked to return wrapped gift to Teambuilders any time from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday.
Helping Hands Hospice Angel Sales: Through Dec. 24, for every ceramic angel purchased through the Helping Hands Hospice, a paper memorial angel will be displayed on one of several Christmas trees located around Tucumcari. Proceeds will help Helping Hands patients and their families with unforeseen expenses throughout the year.
