A Tucumcari man was in jail Monday in connection with a shooting Friday night.
William Archuletta remains in QCDC with a bond of $15,500.
Police say William "Willie" Archuletta, 20, shot Bryan Cassidy, 30, of Tucumcari in the leg about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of South Monroe.
Archuletta is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of negligent use of a deadly weapon.
Tucumcari Police Chief Jason Braziel said when officers responded to a report of a fight in progress with possible shots fired they found Cassidy lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Braziel said emergency medical personnel were dispatched and transported Cassidy to Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital. He said during the investigation officers were able to identify Archuletta as the shooter and were able to locate him a short time later.
Braziel said Archuletta was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Quay County Detention Center. He said Cassidy was transferred to a hospital in Albuquerque for further medical treatment.
Braziel said Monday the latest report on Cassidy is he's in good condition.
Archuletta is being held at QCDC on $15,500 cash bond, said Heather Calbert, QCDC administrative secretary.
