MULESHOE — The Lubbock man discovered dead after a car crash in west Bailey County on Monday appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Bailey County Sheriff Richard Wills confirmed on Thursday.
Officials said Charles David Sharp, 51, died in a one-vehicle accident on State Highway 214, about 4 1/2 miles south of Farm Road 298.
The crash happened late Monday morning. Officials said Sharp's 2011 Lexus veered off the roadway and went through a barbed-wire fence before striking a utility pole.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Sharp is the brother of former Texas Tech women's basketball coach Marsha Sharp.
Wills declined to release any additional information until after Sharp's funeral today.
