MainStreet awarded capital outlay grant

Tucumcari MainStreet Train Depot project received $157,000 in state capital outlay money. The award was annoucned in a Friday event with state Economic Development Department Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela.

"This is one of the larger amounts being awarded by the state," Barela said.

Barela said MainStreet projects are one of the important keystones of rural development.

"Projects like your train depot will bring people back to Main Street," Barela said.

Tucumcari MainStreet Director Mark Lake said the money will be used to complete work on the depot's plaza area.

"We are pleased with the capital outlay award for our train depot project," Lake said. "We are going to continue working on this project to improve our MainStreet."
