A world of adventure at their fingertips

Living in Quay County, you are at times looking for a source of entertainment or education.

I'm not taking anything away from television or movies, but if you're like me there are many times you can't find anything to watch.

If you can believe it, there are some people who just don't like to watch TV; they don't even have cable or satellite.

However, there is one medium that everyone seems to agree upon and that would be reading.

Getting to the library on time can be a challenge for those county residents and that is where the rural bookmobile steps in to save the day.

This mobile treasure trove of knowledge comes through different parts of the county once a month.

Manager Geri Marquez said the residents are always happy to see the bookmobile come back to their area.

Jane and Dixie Lewis, mother and daughter, were busy today picking out their spoils from the bookmobile.

Jane said there is no limit to the books they can take, and even though she and her daughter stock up, they often run out of books.

Their selections ranged from murder mystery, science fiction, westerns, romance and fantasy.

I too have enjoyed the bookmobile. On those days when nothing is on those 200 digital channels, I'm fast on my way to an adventure with Theseus, without ever leaving the county.
