The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority hired legal representation for a lawsuit filed last week by the Village of Logan during a special meeting Monday morning at Clovis City Hall.
The meeting included a 25-minute executive session for discussion of the lawsuit that called for a halt to construction, funding and advancement of the any portion of the authority's Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System project.
Following the executive session, the authority hired Montgomery and Andrews Law Firm of Santa Fe.
"They understand the processes and the regulations," Authority Chair Gayla Brumfield said, "and they're a respected law firm in Santa Fe."
Brumfield had no other comment regarding the suit, which was delivered to her following the meeting by Buneesa "Bunny" Terry, chamber secretary for the Ute Lake and Logan Chamber of Commerce.
The authority will meet 3 p.m. today, also at the city hall building, for the unsealing of bids for the first phase of the project, a pumping station at the lake.
