Increasing the appeal and accessibility of Mesalands Community College to future students, current students and local residents prompts the launch of a newly designed website.
"One of the main technologies used to draw people to the college is the Internet," said Mildred Lovato, President of Mesalands.
Lovato said the redesign and launch of the new website is one of the premier projects staff urged her to work on when she took over at Mesalands.
"This is a website allows us to articulate in a much more technological, what the college has to offer," Lovato said.
A committee was formed and has been working on the website redesign since July of 2011, said Kimberly Hanna, public relations director.
Hanna said she was part of the committee, which worked to improve the content for the website.
"There are links to programs including; the rodeo teams, small business center and wind center," Hanna said.
Hanna said the goal was to incorporate as much content about the college, courses, facilities and activities on a easy to access format.
"The layout of the previous website was not as user friendly," Lovato said. "I think this new website will be easier to navigate."
Lovato said the website will bring the college closer to the community who's residents can access more up to date information.
"The residents can now view a list of events, and a calendar," Lovato. "It keeps them informed about what's going on at the college."
Hanna said while the committee was charged with deciding the content of the website, the actual design was done by a marketing firm out of Charlottesville, Va.
"The firm was chosen for their work in designing other universities and colleges websites," Hanna said.
