Dennis Roch, R-Texico, has announced he is running for re-election in District 67 of the state House of Representatives.

The district includes all or parts of Curry, Roosevelt, Quay, Harding Union, San Miguel and Colfax counties.

Roch, 38, is the only candidate who has announced candidacy for the position.

He is assistant superintendent at Texico Schools. He has held the position since 2008, when he won election following the retirement of Brian K. Moore.

“I absolutely feel like there’s work left to be accomplished,” Roch said. “Education reform is still a little too close to the status quo, and we can do better for our kids.”

Roch also noted work needs to be done on the tax code, particularly with businesses that could either locate in New Mexico or Texas.
