More than 120 residents of Logan gathered to recreate a photo taken 100 years earlier.
The residents of Logan poses for a photo on Jan. 6, 1912, the day President William Howard Taft signed a proclamation declaring New Mexico's statehood.
Logan's residents gathered to commemorate the state's centennial celebration by recreating a historic photo.
The Logan Ute Lake Chamber of Commerce invited the residents of Logan to participate in the centennial photo event on Friday.
"We wanted to recreate a photo of Logan's residents taken on Jan. 6, 1912," said Bunny Terry, chamber secretary.
Over 120 residents were in the picture which was taken in front of the First National Bank of New Mexico.
Terry said the original photo was taken near the same spot in front of the then-McFarland Brothers Bank.
The photo held a special and personal meaning for August William "Bill" Bruhn and his family.
"My great-great-grandfather Henry Arning, was in the original photo," Bruhn said. "Four Generations of Bruhns were in the two combined photos."
Bruhn said his father August William II, daughter Nancy, son Riley and Grandson Drake Mason Lawrence were all present Friday for the photo.
"There is no way to describe it," Bruhn said. "We were standing in the same spot those residents were 100 years ago. I would not have missed it for anything."
Terry said a new board of directors has been installed within the chamber. She said the directors have an agenda of revitalizing the chamber and it's outreach in the community.
"The picture was one of the ways to do just that," Terry said "Not only did it involve the community in a local event but they joined to celebrate the state's centennial."
Terry said the turn out for the photo was higher then expected. She said it shows a positive reception of the chambers efforts by the residents.
"Perhaps with the next chamber event there will be a higher participation," Terry said.
