    A Tucumcari native last week earned a national title in his age bracket in the horseshoes competition at the National Senior Games in Albuquerque. Joseph Garcia, also known by his middle name of Rudy, of Portales went undefeated in 13 matches at the Senior Games and came from behind to defeat eventual runner-up Larry Ulibarri by scoring a ringer on his final throw of the championship round.     As expected, the New Mexico Activities Association board of directors on Thursday approved girls wrestling as an officially sanctioned sport for the 2019-2020 season. The number of girls competing in wrestling in New Mexico had more than doubled – to 165 last season – in the last two years. New Mexico became the 18th state to officially recognize girls wrestling. Bull riders Levi Gray, Roy Jackson and Vinell Mariano walked away with no scores during their three early-round sessions. First baseman Harlie Roach and pitcher Kyndall Ragland each were selected to the second team in the Class 1A/2A all-state selections.     The New Mexico Activities Association is poised to make girls wrestling an officially sanctioned sport, and Tucumcari's wrestling coach is all for it. The association's commission voted for the proposal last month, and the NMAA's board of directors is scheduled to make a final vote June 13.
