Quay County commissioners on Monday approved a resolution opposing a federal listing of the lesser prairie chicken as an endangered species, fearing the economic impact. A fire Thursday morning heavily damaged a home northwest of Tucumcari and slightly injured a resident there. District 1 firefighters received the call about the blaze about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, said fire chief and Quay County fire marshal Lucas Bugg.
