  • Christmas quiz

    Thomas Garcia QCS Senior Writer|Dec 25, 2012

With the holiday rush in full swing people are trying to get their last minute shopping, decorating and cooking done for the perfect festive celebration. So as a distraction from the hustle and bustle of the season we wanted to ask them some holiday trivia. What three gifts did the wise men bring for baby Jesus? Antonio Padilla: Gold, frankincense and myrrh? Frosty the snowman was a happy jolly soul. He had a button nose, two eyes made out of coal and what else? Bonnie Smith: You're asking the wrong person about Christmas Carols. Was it a top h...

  • Folk who donated time, effort deserve gratitude

    Jerrene Bradley QCS staff writer|Dec 25, 2012

I was recently on Facebook and came across a woman who said that she and the man she takes care of were needing a Christmas dinner delivered and wondered if there was a church or organization who could help them out. She did some checking and found that there was no one who could help them. I started talking to different people and found that in our community there really are people here that are willing to help people in a time of need. We have been using 2000 for more than a dozen years, and I still think in terms of the 1900's. Oh, well, some people tell me I am a little strange and am very far behind the rest of the world! At any rate, as we begin a new year, we surely need to beg...

  • Lauriault: Christians must make ready for Jesus' return

    Dec 25, 2012

Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was sleeping, not even a mouse. Why? Although the song says when the baby awakes, no crying he makes, the song, it was lying, for the baby was crying. Although he was perfect regarding sin, Jesus suffered the same physical desires and maladies common to all of humankind and it's sheer speculation that he didn't cry as a baby (Hebrews 4:15; 2:14; John 11:35). While we can speculate about that and what it was like on the day after Jesus was born, and even whether or not that...
