"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God"… — John 1:12 In preparation for an upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebration a reporter commented that she wasn't Irish. As we were watching "Laredo" the inevitable happened and the bad guys got the drop on Reese. I immediately told my wife that without a doubt, in...
Does your vote really matter? It can. The New York Times in 2005 reported the median margin of victory in Congressional elections is 22 percent. That's what economists Casey Mulligan and Charles Hunter found when they analyzed more than 56,000 Congressional elections dating to 1898. The economists also took a look at more than 40,000 state legislature races, comprising nearly a billion votes, NYT reported. There, they found only nine elections tied or decided by a single vote. But close to home, our research shows a single vote can be huge....

Here we go once again trying to adjust to daylight savings time. As we change our clocks and gnash our teeth, we keep wondering why we seem to be forced to do so twice a year. I had enough of that in my earlier years and decided to enjoy getting up with the sun in the later years. Well, that doesn't work when we set our clocks back an hour. Yes, I guess I could "sleep in," but that would wreck what...
