    The Jan. 25 editorial about the Trans-Canada pipeline headlined “Pipeline denial cost thousands of U.S. jobs” uses the conservative mantra — facts be damned to defend the status quo. The editorial states with today’s technology leaks are unlikely; that should make the Gulf Coast residents feel better. Friday • At 8:21 a.m., a woman reported a domestic dispute at a residence on the 700 block of West Sunset Avenue. • At 10:09 a.m., a man went into the Police Department on the 200 block of East Center Street to turn himself in for a warrant.     Special to the QCS Mesalands Community College students Shelly Giannino and Alex Nielson have been selected to the 2012 All-State New Mexico Academic Team. This honor recognizes their commit-ment to academic excellence.     Throughout all our years of visiting together, we have spent much time talking about our great good fortune of having so many wonderful friends. They are the people who make this area home and who give us reasons to enjoy each day. Last week, I had the opportunity to have a phone visit with Mrs. Rachel Locklear Sparks, who now lives in Clovis, but who is a native of Quay County.
