    Two Logan players were selected for Saturday’s annual small-school Red-Green All-Star Football Game at Artesia. Senior running back Haden Judd and senior linebacker Payson Nials will represent the Longhorns, who were state champions in six-man football this year.   • State Canvass Board certifies general election results

    New Mexico’s State Canvass Board on Nov. 26 unanimously certified the results of the 2024 general election. The board is comprised of the governor, Secretary of State and chief justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court. During the meeting, the board also ordered automatic recounts in elections for state representative District 57 and Los Alamos County commissioner at large. Both races saw margins of less than 1%.   • Ex-commissioner gets probation for bad check

    A former Tucumcari city commissioner was sentenced to probation and community service after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of bouncing a check of nearly $3,000 for outstanding water bills. Christopher W. Arias, 31, pleaded guilty to fraud by worthless check in a deal with prosecutors. According to court documents, Arias was placed on 18 months of supervised probation.     Because of recent storms, water levels at Conchas Lake have reached their highest point in almost six years. Franklin McCasland, manager of the Arch Hurley Conservancy District, said in his Nov. 12 report to the district’s board of directors that the lake had risen to an elevation of 4,181.12 feet that morning.     Logan’s basketball teams will be playing under new scoreboards this season. The Logan Municipal Schools board last Monday accepted a donation of new scoreboards from The Bank of Logan.
