Grants were approved Wednesday at a special session of the City Commission from the Water Trust Board for improvements of three water wells at five mile park. For infrastructure improvements and upgrades, Resolution 2012-43, the city was awarded $50,000 with the city budgeting its 10 percent share of $5,000 for upgrades to the east end of Tucumcari. Mesalands Community College is hosting its annual iron pour 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through March 10. Thirty-five students from at least eight different states will be coming to participate in a one-week course to create sculptures and translate them into cast iron pieces of art.
