    Three local youths will compete in a country music singing competition Saturday in Tucumcari. The KTNM radio station will hold the Texaco Country Showdown at 8 p.m. at the Pow Wow Lizard Lounge, said Charlie Morrison, general manager, KTNM KQAY radio stations in Tucumcari. Morrison said three local singers, Feliciana Marie Lovato, Olana Romero and Anastasia Schmitt, all of Tucumcari, have signed up for the competition.   • A multi-state safety crackdown set for Friday along Route 66

    The New Mexico State Police will team up Friday with law enforcement agencies in seven other states in the "Get Your 'Clicks' on Route 66" seat belt crackdown. The crackdown will run for 24 hours on Friday, from midnight to midnight, said Lt. Jimmy Glascock.     Quay County's farmers' market is held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and 10 a.m. on Saturdays at Wailes Park on east Tucumcari Boulevard.     A former Tucumcari resident will take to the world's stage once again as she competes in the 2012 Olympics in London. Courtesy photo Amber Campbell, who lived in Tucumcari from 1983 to 1995, competed in volleyball, basketball and track and field at Tucumcari Middle School.     The coin-operated machine at Tucumcari's water pump station located at Third and Main streets has been replaced.     The Federal Aviation Administration announced on Tuesday it has awarded grants to four New Mexico airports including Tucumcari Municipal Airport, according to a release from U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman. "Federal grants are essential in helping airports make the improvements and upgrades needed to protect air travelers.     The city of Tucumcari is working with the New Mexico Department of Transportation to secure funding for additional lighting at Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 54 interchange. City manager Doug Powers said it's a matter of safety and promoting Tucumcari. "It's dark at those ramps," Powers said. "So dark it may discourage travelers from taking those exits."     A wildfire near Conchas has burned 250 acres and continues to burn along the Canadian River, according to New Mexico State Forestry officials. Dan Ware, the department's fire prevention and outreach program manager, said in a release on Tuesday that the fire is in the Canadian River and is inaccessible with any type of equipment.
