I-40 re-opened, U.S. Highway 54 remains closed

QCS Staff I-40 eastbound and west bound have been reopened along with U.S. 54 to the Texas state line.

Eastbound I-40 reopens

Eastbound Interstate 40 has been reopened east of San Jon according to New Mexico State Police dispatech. Tucumcari Fire Chief Mike Cherry said the fire started near mile marker 366 on the south side of the highway. He said four fire crews were called out to the scene.

Highway 469 reopens

Highway 469 has reopened after San Jon firefighters extinguished a grass fire Sunday afternoon. Assistant Fire Chief Craig Brashear said the fire spanned about 50 acres and that the cause of the fire is undetermined.

U.S. Highway 54 closed out of Logan

Quay County fire departments have responded to a grass fire on U.S. Highway 54 about 15 miles northeast of Logan. The westbound highway out of Logan has been shut down due to a traffic accident. We will provide more information as it becomes available.

Man, woman die in three-vehicle crash

QCSun Staff A man and woman from Wisconsin were killed Monday morning in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 54 near Nara Visa, according to New Mexico State Police Capt. Jimmy Glascock.
