Local leaders will meet Monday with Sen. Tom Udall to talk about economic development, agriculture and energy issues.
There will be a roundtable discussion with Udall, were he will talk about current economic development activities, planned upgrades at Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital, and current and future plans at the New Mexico State University's Agricultural Science Center in Tucumcari, said Patrick Vanderpool, executive director of the Greater Tucumcari Economic Development Corp.
Vanderpool said there would also be a question and answer session with the senator. He said there would be a $10 charge to help with the cost of the meal served at the lunch meeting.
Udall’s Deputy Press Secretary Jake McCook said this not an election-related visit. McCook said Udall will be New Mexico for the rest of the month to meet and speak with the public.
McCook said Udall would tour the Tucumcari Mountain Cheese factory, where they will highlight the factory’s forthcoming expansion.
Udall will also meet with the Arch Hurley Conservancy District to discuss water infrastructure in the area. He plans to tour Energy Related Devices for a briefing on the New Mexico-owned business' renewable energy components.
