Sisters Emily and Melanie Otero celebrated their birthdays Sept. 1 at the Elks Lodge swimming pool with family and friends.

Emily turned 7 on Aug. 31 and celebrated with a peace sign themed party complete with tie dye cupcakes.

Melanie turned 3 on Sept. 4 and celebrated with a Sesame Street birthday party complete with Elmo cupcakes.

Emily and Melanie's parents are Gino and Miquela Otero. Grandparents are Charlie Valverde, Judy Martinez and Gene and Evelyn Otero. Great-grandparents are Vera Cordova and Rose Otero.
