Services: 2 p.m. Friday at the House High School Gym H. J. “Jake” Lee, 90, of Clovis died Monday, March 5, 2007. at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. He was born February 8, 1917 in McAlister, N.M., to W. C. and Laura Hogue Lee. He was raised in the McAlister and House areas and graduated from McAlister High School. He attended McMurray College in Abilene, Texas. He married Leona Adkins May 1, 1982 in House. Mr. Lee farmed and ranched in the McAlister and House area until he retired in 1994. For several years he served on the House School Board and The House Coop Board. He served for 25 years on the board of the Federal Land Bank in Tucumcari. He is survived by his wife, Leona of Clovis, three sons, Bob (Doris) Lee of McAlister, Bill Lee of House and Jerry Lee of McAlister, two daughters, Terry Wells (Woody) of Pampa, Texas, and Linda (John) Canady of Newark, N.J, eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Norma Lee Taylor and Joan Love, and a nephew, John Edgar McMahan. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mable Summers, Johnnie McMahan and Opal True. Sherman Martin will officiate at the service, with burial following at the House Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Scott Lee, Randy Lee, Johnny Lee, Jud Lee, Jason Lee, Ty Sallsbury, Tommy Dinwiddie and Rex Martin, Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be John Nunn, Jarle Bjork, Drew Runyon, Robert Wiegl, Wendell Cathy and Mike Love. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
