Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dunn Memorial Chapel in Tucumcari. Martha Shafer, 77, died in Dumas, Texas on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, following an extended illness. Mrs. Shafer was born Jan. 30, 1930 in Clayton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of San Jon. She had been a homemaker who enjoyed crafting handmade quilts. She was a longtime resident of San Jon before moving to Dumas. Surviving Mrs. Shafer is her daughter Bonnie (Ron) Farrow of Dumas, one son Larry Shafer of Andover, N.J., four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers: Lester Paris of Los Lunas, Jim Paris of Tucumcari, Charlie Paris of Santana, Kan., and Jerry Paris of Sublet, Kan. ; three sisters, Elise Boatman of Logan, Maxine Christian and Linda Potter, both of Dumas. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Hermie D. Paris. C.L. Bowe of San Jon will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the family plot of the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
