Jack E. Ready
Services: Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mora Valley Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Jack E. Ready, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at the Taos Living Center in Taos. Mr. Ready was a resident of Tres Ritos Valley for the past 10 years and a former resident of Pendaries Valley and of Amarillo, Texas.
He was born in McKiney, Texas, on Aug. 27, 1925 to the late Nugent Ready and Lillian Elam Ready.
He was united in marriage in Amarillo on May 9, 1981 to Mattie Houpt.
He served in the U.S. Marines Corps and retired in 1985 from the Coastal Oil Company in Amarillo, where he was vice president of oil exploration. He was a former Boy Scout leader, Little League Baseball coach. He was a wood carver, loved to fish and was also a cancer survivor, his family said.
Mr. Ready was an ordained deacon in the Summer Southern Baptist Church and a charter member of the Rociada Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in law Pauline and Otis Houpt of Tucumcari, four sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife: Mattie Moreland-Ready of Tres Ritos Valley; sons: Mark (Dee) Ready of Piedmont, Okla., and Robert (Jennifer) Ready of Midland, Texas; Stepsons: Chris Moreland of Tres Ritos Valley and Andy (Sue) Moreland of Amarillo; grandchildren: Mikey, Johnny, Kellin. Brynn, Loren and Clay; great- grandchildren: Averi and Gracie; brother: John Frank (June) Ready of Texas; brother in law: Bill (Donna) Moreland of Skellytown, Texas; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Bill Dollar and Jerry Virden will officiate at the memorial services. Burial will be at a later date at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe .
Arrangements are by Rogers Mortuary of Las Vegas.
